The audit checklist
The agent's audit hits a defined checklist:
Technical SEO. Crawl errors, indexability, sitemap health, robots.txt discipline, Core Web Vitals, structured data validity, canonicalisation issues.
Content gaps. Topics the team has high search-intent demand for but no content; topics with thin or outdated content; topics where competitors rank and the team doesn't.
Internal linking. Pages with strong external authority but weak internal-link inflow; orphaned pages; cross-linking opportunities for topic clusters.
Performance. Pages that lost ranking quarter-over-quarter; pages that gained; query patterns.
On-page issues. Title-tag and meta-description gaps; thin H1s; duplicate descriptions across pages.
Brand-voice consistency. Drafts identified as off-brand by the voice eval.
Each finding includes the URL, the issue, severity (high/medium/low), and a proposed action. The output is a Notion page or doc the content team can work through directly.
The schedule
The agent runs the audit on a defined cadence:
- Weekly mini-audit. Technical-only. Crawl errors, broken links, indexability changes. 5 minutes of human review.
- Monthly content-gap audit. New topics that surfaced in search trends; new competitor content. 30 minutes of human review.
- Quarterly full audit. All sections. Half-day of human review and prioritisation.

A real audit, week one
Run the agent on a real client site. Common findings on first audit:
- 200-400 thin pages (under 200 words) that should be merged or expanded.
- 30-50 pages with duplicate or missing meta descriptions.
- 10-20 pages with strong external authority and weak internal-link inflow (unlock by adding 2-3 internal links).
- 5-10 topic clusters with content-gap opportunities.
- 2-5 technical issues (often canonicalisation or indexability).
Each finding has an obvious next step. The team picks the top 20% to address in the next month, then re-audits.
How to start
Pick the audit. Run it once manually as a calibration. Then run it through the agent and compare outputs. Once the agent's first audit matches what a human auditor would have produced, schedule the cadence and let the agent handle it. Reserve human time for the action loop, not the audit itself.
